How to Accessorize Like Daryl Dixon

Daryl Dixon is the resident tracker, navigator and collector of walker ears in the group.  At times Daryl can seem distant, but beneath his quiet exterior is a selfless hero and reliable friend.

Daryl is an expert survivalist and it’s no wonder why. He always seems to keep a few essential items handy, and that is all he needs to survive alone in the wilderness.

Walker Ear Necklace

I don’t quite recall the reason for Daryl constructing this horrifying thing (if they ever revealed it), but he definitely did and it makes me want to wash my hands just thinking about it.

Daryl doesn’t really ever wear this thing other than it’s first appearance to my knowledge. An accurate “down on the farm” Daryl Dixon costume would not be complete without this grotesque piece of hand-made jewelry.

Daryl Dixon's Quiver

Every great archer throughout history - from Hawkeye to Legolas to Link to Robin Hood - has had a quiver. Daryl Dixon, the smooth talking, take-no-jive, arrow-slinger from The Walking Dead is no different.

Daryl wears his quiver behind his back. It is used to store extra bolts for his crossbow. His is aqua-green colored and appears to be custom-made.  I’m not certain but it almost looks like a piece of green pvc.

This quiver isn’t quite an exact match, but if you need one it would serve it’s purpose.

Daryl Dixon's Crossbows

He primarily uses a Horton Scout HD 125. In season three when Rick, Carl and Michonne come across Morgan and his homemade armory and cache of weapons, they decide to bring back a new toy for Daryl. A Stryker Strykezone 380 bow which he receives in ep. twelve, but doesn’t actually use until ep. thirteen.

Do they sell his exact crossbow?

This is a perfect match to Daryl’s Horton bow and it’s even been personally autographed by Norman Reedus! Check it out here!

This Barnett crossbow is a more affordable alternative for the Horton bow while it isn’t an exact match, it comes pretty close.

This Stryker Strykezone 380 is the exact bow Daryl gets from Michonne after she, Rick and Carl have a run-in with Morgan. It’s not cheap, but it would really complete an accurate Daryl Dixon cosplay!

Daryl's Dead Squirrels

Daryl is a carnivore. He’s not going to let a shortage of readily available edible meats stop him from devouring tasty animals. So being an expert hunter, he preys on the other white meat - squirrels and the other other white meat - rabbits.

No Daryl Dixon costume would be complete without at least one dead squirrel. Since carrying around animal carcasas seems to carry a bit of a stigma, I would suggest an alternative.

This stuffingless animal chew toy would make a perfect faux dead squirrel, and you won’t have to harm any defenseless critters!

By the Blade of Daryl Dixon's Knife

Daryl’s trusty standby knife of choice is the Busse Team Gemini. It is a fixed blade knife that Daryl keeps sheathed at his side at all times.  It has put down countless numbers of walkers and cleaned and gutted many of Daryl’s meals.

If you're lucky enough, you may be able to find an exact match to his knife on Ebay.  You can check current listings on Ebay here.

If you’re looking for a more affordable fixed blade knife like Daryl’s then look no further!  This Schrade survival knife looks really close to Daryl's, and it's much cheaper than the Busse.

If you plan on sporting your Daryl getup in public, this rubber trainer knife is a safe alternative.

Sheath

Daryl’s sheath is black, and he keeps it hung on his right hip.  Depending on the knife you end up choosing to match Daryl’s, you may or may not be in need of a sheath as some knives come with their own.

Daryl's Grenades

During the Governor's siege on the prison and the battle that followed, Daryl is seen multiple different times using grenades both to disperse the Governor’s men and to single handedly take out a F#@%ing tank!

Proving even further that Daryl is the baddest mother F'er surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Are they available to the public?

Sorta.

These pretend play toy grenades will go a long way for a “prison-escape look” Daryl Dixon outfit.

Cigarettes?

Daryl Dixon, like many “bad-boys” before him, has taken to the unhealthy habit of smoking. He is seen on several different occasions puffing on a smoke to relax or pass time.

If you are particularly health conscious like me, I have a much safer and healthier alternative to suggest.

These candy cigarettes, while still considerably controversial, are a great substitute for tobacco cigarettes and they’re more a hazard to your teeth than your health!

Black Bandanna

Daryl has been seen on several occasions covering his face with a black bandana. Usually he dons it during the burning of walker carcasses.

Red Handkerchief

Daryl Dixon, like any gentleman or handyman, always carries a handkerchief. You never know just when it could come in handy.

His handkerchief is red and he carries it in his left back pocket.  This red pocket square is a perfect match to Daryl’s!

Guns

Daryl isn’t known for his use of guns obviously as his main weapon of choice is a trusty crossbow. Looking back at all the series so far I was surprised to find that Daryl actually uses several different firearms. In fact he has used at least one gun every season thus far.

In conclusion I guess I learned that I don’t need to smoke to be as cool as Daryl Dixon, I just need to wear a walker-ear necklace and carry a dead squirrel.
